We are a small farm start up Located in the Corner of Genesee County Michigan .
Our mission is to develop a valuable local resource providing sustainably grown and harvested,Safe healthy chemical free food.
Currently we are endeavoring to build a Passive Solar Aquaponic Greenhouse to reach these ends.This will be combined with traditional methods and other Animals.

How it all fits together

Farming and Aquaculture are nothing new.
Both have been around for thousands of years.
Of coarse their have been advancements and Improvements made.
Aquaponics is combining the two.
It itself is nothing new either but not nearly as old as either or.
In its most basic form the fish are fed and do what fish do,grow and expel waste. the waste needs to be removed from the environment,
This is accomplished by Nitrification of the Ammonia produced by the fish waste. Bacteria in a Bio-filter perform the Nitrification changing Ammonia to nitrates that can be taken up by the plants.the water is pumped into growbeds filled with media which supports the root system. the plant purify the water and use the nutrients for growth and at the same time purifying the water for the Fish.
Some of the benefits of such a system are,
More food produced on less land.
No need for chemical fertilizer,though some nutrients need to be supplemented for various crops. This can be accomplished with out chemicals.
The only energy input after the initial structure is electricity for the pump. This can be provided by Eco-freindly sources Solar,Wind and hydro.
Currently the energy demands of Tradition Agriculture are huge.
Aquaponics uses a tenth of the water of traditional Agriculture.
No risk of Agriculture run off polluting water ways.
By supplying the local market we will be helping to keep a strong local economy well further reducing costs and energy use.
In a green house we will be able to extend our growing season to four seasons,as well as maintain optimal conditions for plant and fish growth.
We will be taking it just a steps farther though.
We will have Rabbits in suspended cages under our grow beds and under our rabbit cages will be earth worm beds. the rabbits will utilize any waste from the green house plant and feed the worms. the worms in turn will either serve as a cash crop or be used as Fish and Poultry feed.The worm casting produces will
either be bagged and sold or used to enrich our outdoor gardens.
Besides the earth worms we have a little space to try raising some feeder insects, meal worms and Black soldier fly larva are on our want to do list.
the By products from the meat operation Fish,Poultry,and Rabbit will be used
to supplement the Poultry and Fish Feed.
Nothing goes to waste.
We will also be raising Duck weed to supplement all the animals.
Pretty ambitious but that is the plan some what simplified.
